Internship Program with Child Rights Centre, CNLU

Background

Human Liberty Network (https://www.humanlibertynetwork.org/) is a group of 17 Civil Society Organizations (CSO) working in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh to combat the issue of human trafficking through building community-based resilience, engaging with relevant government departments and ministries and aligning with all tiers of judiciary to prevent human trafficking. For the last two years HLN partners have been working intensively with District Level Service Authorities and engaging with State Legal Service Authority as well to bring justice to the target community and raising awareness among community to come forward for legal services to get fast and hassle-free justice. HLN partners have established Legal Aid Centers (LAC) in block and/or Panchayat level to provide legal services, facilitation of legal services, raising awareness in the community and helping them to get legal advices and referral services as well.

 

Objective of Assignment

HLN is providing an internship opportunity to engage in anti-trafficking work for enthusiastic and dynamic professionals who are eager to support grassroots legal strategies. This opportunity shall provide the scope for:

  1. Learning about legal issues related tohuman trafficking through field visits

  2. Contribute towards legal strategies for securing justice to the marginalized communities

  3. Developing a network in the field of Human Rights

  4. Providing research and implementation support to the organization on topics like legal strategies on trafficking, ways to engage collaboratively with the District Legal Services Authority, obstacles in access to justice and studying the functionality of Legal Aid Cells

The intern shall be associated with one of the member organization of HLN and will be guided by a senior staff member.

About the Internship

The internship shall be a full-time assignment for a period of two months and include field visits, meeting with stakeholders. Candidates open to flexible working hours shall be given preference. The assignment has flexibility for extension upto six months depending on the nature and agreement of intern and organization. Work to be done in the area of East Champaran, Sitamarhi and Gaya.

 

Selection Process

Candidates pursuing B.A. LL. B (Hons) and B.BA LL. B (Hons) course of Chanakya National Law University are eligible to apply to the Centre Coordinator through Internship Coordination Committee of Chanakya National Law University who will conduct the first round of interviews. Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by HLN member organizations. Maximum 3 candidates will be shortlisted. CV to be emailed on childrights@cnlu.ac.in and CC to internship@cnlu.ac.in

 

Internship Logistics

Stipend

The Intern may receive a stipend of 5000 INR per month during internship. Interns wouldn’t be eligible for any other benefit from the organization during the period of their assignment.

 

Travel

The intern is expected to travel and reimbursement shall be provided based on the policies of the organization.

 

Leave

The intern is eligible for 2 days leave every month apart from weekends or public holidays subject to the prior written approval of the supervisor.

 

Contract

Other terms and conditions will be contained in the contract signed with the organization.

Certificate

The HLN partner shall provide experience and performance certificate to the intern on successful completion of the internship. This internship program is educational in nature and there is no guarantee or expectation that this internship would lead to employment.
